A lightwell is a vertical shaft (usually between pavement and building) designed to bring natural light to lower floors and basements. Lightwells often present huge challenges for disabled access, delivery of goods and the transportation of refuse bins. Lightwell lifts are scissor lifts that are sized to fit the available space. The handrails and gates are often bespoke and designed to mirror the immediate surroundings and the platform floor can either be checker-plate (or other non-slip material) or can be supplied with a tray to accept the customers own floor tiles.
