Case Study
Having seen the difference a home lift had made to a friend’s home, two sisters in their 70s knew Level Access Lifts were the right choice for their own newly renovated property. They wanted a stylish vertical platform lift that would give them reliable access to the first floor for years to come.
Home Access Solution
The sisters wanted a vertical platform lift to travel from the ground-floor living areas to the bedrooms on the first floor, providing alternative access as needed. Steps lead to the second floor, which has been adapted with a kitchenette and a bathroom for a live-in carer if required.
Aesthetically, they wanted a lift that didn’t look obtrusive and could be made to specification to blend with the interior of their newly renovated 1940s property. It also needed to be large enough to accommodate a wheelchair and a companion.
Level Access Lifts recommended its British Style hydraulic vertical platform lift, with a rated load of 400kg (five persons). This robust home lift comes with its own self-supporting structure and can be manufactured with different door types and bespoke finishes.
To match the existing timber doors in the hallway and landing, the builder custom-made the lift door using the same wood and handle, which was then fitted to the British Style lift by the manufacturer. Grey carpet flooring was chosen to blend with the hall and landing, and the panels of the self-supporting shaft were finished in a bespoke honey beige RAL colour to create a warm tone throughout.
Installation was completed by Level Access Lifts in collaboration with the renovation project team.
Results
The property is now future proofed with a home lift that sits discreetly within its surroundings. Cleverly integrated with a timber door to match the other internal doors, the British Style vertical platform lift feels at home in the renovated interior. The carpet flooring and honey beige panels add a sense of warmth and quality, complementing the new décor throughout.
The sisters can now move between floors with ease, knowing that access to the main areas of the house is there whenever they need it.
