Case Study
Project
A platform lift solution was required for a holiday home in the South West of Wales to overcome 15 steps leading up to the garden. The customer, who has knee problems, wanted a practical way to get up and down the steps, especially when carrying bulky and heavy items.
The seaside townhouse is built into a slope, with street-level entry at the front and the rear garden sitting level with the first floor. To access the garden, the property owner who is a keen gardener, needed to tackle 15 steep steps, which was affecting her enjoyment of the outdoor space.
Access Solution
Level Access Lifts conducted a detailed site survey to assess the property’s layout and identify the best solution. The GTLE platform stairlift was the ideal fit for the external space and able to withstand the harsh elements of the coastal environment.
Product compatibility included:
- Can be supplied with a marine-grade specification
- Suitable for steps with 20–50 degrees gradient
- Available in 22 different platform sizes
- Discreet appearance and compact design
The installation team fixed the stainless steel rails to the wall without causing any damage or structural changes to the existing flagstone steps. The GTLE platform stairlift was provided in a standard RAL colour with a durable marine-grade finish.
Results
The property owner is delighted with her new platform stairlift, which has transformed her life. She can easily access the garden without putting further strain on her knee and carry heavy items up and down with ease.
By investing in a platform stairlift, the owner has future-proofed her holiday home, which will eventually become her main residence. The battery operation of the GTLE platform stairlift has provided a practical solution for the rural coastal location which has frequent power cuts. It has also created a new outside entertaining area with spectacular views, accessible for guests with mobility issues.
