Case Study
Filey Academy needed a replacement stair lift to provide disability access within the building for a student in a wheelchair. The existing lift had become unreliable and was no longer fit for purpose, prompting the academy to contact Level Access Lifts for a replacement. The product needed to overcome six steps in the main corridor, which has the science and cookery classrooms at one end and the main hall and dining room at the other. To fit the available space, the stair lift needed to be compact and fold away when not in use, maximising space on a busy corridor staircase.
Access Solution
Level Access Lifts recommended its GTLE platform stair lift as the best solution. Available in a compact 800 x 1000mm configuration with a wireless lockable wall switch, the GTLE met the space requirements and was a natural fit for a busy school environment. Installation was completed within one day with minimal disruption to the school. The product was post-mounted to the existing steps and no structural alterations were required.
Results
Filey Academy is now able to offer a fully accessible environment. The GTLE platform stair lift is straightforward to operate and has enabled the student in a wheelchair to move independently around the school. Additional keys have been provided to staff for use by visitors and future students with disabilities.
