Case Study
Go Swimstars operates state-of-the-art Learn to Swim centres dedicated to teaching children to swim. The family-run company needed a platform lift from Level Access Lifts for its new Lincoln premises to meet Equality Act accessibility requirements.
Home Access Solution
The new swim centre in Lincoln was formerly a Brethren Chapel (known as a Gospel Hall) on Long Leys Road. It has now been repurposed as a swimming pool facility, with a reception area and changing rooms on the ground floor and a raised swimming pool with a viewing balcony.
Access to the swimming pool is via a ramp from the changing rooms, and steps lead up from the reception area to the viewing balcony. To overcome the ramp and steps, Go Swimstars planned for a platform lift solution to give wheelchair users and people with limited mobility access to their facilities.
The Tech Lift M4 step lift, with a marine-grade finish, met Go Swimstars’ specification and budget. A shallow pit allowed Level Access Lifts to install the lift flush with the surrounding floor, with drainage provision for the wet changing room environment.
Installation was completed within a day, with no structural alterations required, and on schedule for Go Swimstars’ planned opening in July 2026.
Results
The new Go Swimstars Lincoln premises is now fully accessible and compliant with the Equality Act. The Tech Lift M4 step lift offers wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility dignified access to the swimming pool and viewing balcony.
The marine-grade finish ensures the lift is durable and protected against corrosion in the chlorine-rich changing room environment, giving Go Swimstars a long-lasting solution. With the addition of the step lift, Go Swimstars can welcome children of all physical abilities to its Lincoln centre.
