Understanding Rated Load Capacity in Lifts
Capacity of rated load refers to the amount of weight that the lift is certified to carry. Typically, platform stairlifts and Steplifts have a capacity of between 225-300kg. Vertical Platform Lifts 400-500kg and goods lifts 1000kg – 2000kg. It is important to remember that regardless of the rated load of a Platform Lift, it will only ever be as good as the wall or building material that it is fixed to. For example, some column driven steplifts are rated at 500kg, however, they are wholly dependent upon the integrity of the vertical face that they are fixed to.
