Understanding Rails / Guides
Rails and Guides are in essence different words for the same thing. Nearly all lifts (with the exception of scissor lifts) will travel up and down or along a set of rails or guides. Historically, the term ‘guides’ is used when relating to Vertical Platform Lifts whilst the term ‘rails’ is more likely to be used when referring to Platform Stairlifts (as they tend to look like hand rails and can sometimes be used as such).
