Strategic Fastening Solutions for Platform Lifts
Although structure-supported platform lifts are self-supporting, they still need to be fastened to the building so that they are held rigidly in place. Some vertical platform lifts need only to be fixed into the floor at the lowest level and at the thresholds, whilst others need the addition of fixings on the mast side (into the wall behind). There will however, be times when there simply isn’t a wall to fix to (e.g. when the platform lift is serving a mezzanine floor). To overcome this issue, structural fixing hoops can be applied. A structural fixing hoop is basically a 3 sided metal frame that wraps around the lift structure and is fixed back to the edge of the floor slab / threshold.
